Tree roots are the most common cause of blocked pipes especially in these dry times.
The dry periods cause moisture in the soil to evaporate causing a lot of areas to subside. Due to ground movement pipes can crack and sometimes drop away. The moisture in the pipes then attracts these very thirsty tree roots. Once in the pipes the roots tend to matt throughout.
There are some steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of a blocked drains caused by tree roots. We recommend the use of PVC pipe as the best below ground pipe material to stop tree roots. Once installed correctly there is a much reduced chance of root penetration. The flex in these PVC pipes also make it more unlikely to collapse with ground movement.
